Public Exhibition announcement by EnergieKontor
Thursday 24th May 2007, 4 – 8pm,
Craigrothie Village Hall, Ceres Road, Craigrothie, KY15 5QD
It is 14 months since EnergieKontor announced their ambitions to build a wind farm near Ceres which followed three years of work on their plans prior to publishing their proposal document. Four years in the preparation, much detailed consultation with Fife Council and other bodies and the only time they can give to the communities effected is 4 hours between 4 and 8 on Thursday evening in Craigrothie Village Hall.
For one important reason we are pleased that they have chosen Craigrothie as the venue. Those attending the exhibition need take only a few steps from the village hall to see the whole of the site. From there it will not be difficult to imagine the huge impact the turbines will have in the landscape. That said it is not convenient for many people in Ceres and other communities who do not have their own transport. We hope that friends and neighbours will help out in getting as many people to the exhibition as possible or, better still, that EnergieKontor will hire a coach or two.
They say they will provide photomontages of how the turbines will appear in the landscape. That is a bold statement. If they are like the photomontages EnergieKontor presented at their exhibition for the Auchtermuchty wind farm it would be more accurate to say “how their consultants and their computer software have made them look in the landscape”. What viewers will see in these creative images is not what they would see if the turbines go ahead. These images will flatter to deceive. That is what they are designed to do so folk need to be aware of that. We asked that moving images should be provided at the public exhibition as obviously the photomontages cannot present the disturbing effect of the movement of the blades. While such technology is readily available there is no mention from EnergieKontor of that being on show at the Exhibition.
It is important that as many people as possible attend the meeting, air their views and ask questions. This will be your only opportunity to see what is on offer as the next development will be a planning application to Fife Council. You would then have to go to the Council Office in Cupar to see the documents with all that entails.
CADEAP will publish a Newsletter before the Public Exhibition offering, we hope, useful guidance on questions to ask and what to look for to make the most of the brief opportunity offered by EnergieKontor on what will become a most significant planning application for a development that will be seen and have a considerable visual impact over a vast area of north east Fife.
